First Families of Limestone County
Early settlers who were living in the area now known as Limestone County during or prior to 1896 can be honored as First Families of Limestone County and have a certificate presented to one of their direct descendants. To qualify, a person must prove that his/her ancestor settled in the area now known as Limestone County during or prior to 1896 and present evidence that he/she is a descendant of the First Family.
It is not necessary for the applicant to be a current resident of Limestone County. The application may be downloaded from this website or requested by mail from the Limestone County Historical Commission, P. O. Box 612, Groesbeck, Texas 76642. Completed applications including supporting documentation and a check or money order for $10.00 made payable to the Limestone County Historical Commission should be mailed to the Limestone County Historical Commission, P. O. Box 612, Groesbeck, Texas 76642.
