Talitha C. Whitley was born in North Carolina circa 1834. Her father’s name is currently unknown, but according to the 1850 census, Talitha was living in Arkansas with her mother, Sarah Whitley, and seven siblings. Her mother may have died sometime before 1860 since Talitha and a younger brother and a younger sister were living in Leon County, Texas with an older brother, his wife and their two year old daughter.
Circa 1864 Talitha married Alexander Carmichael Black Reagan who was living at Bald Prairie in Robertson County with the children born to him and his first wife. A. C. B. and Talitha’s oldest child, California “Callie”, was born in 1865. During Reconstruction, A. C. B. and Talitha moved to Barry County, Missouri where their next three children were born. Missouri was born in 1868, Benjamin Franklin “Frank” was born on July 4, 1870, and Neomi Jane was born in 1872.
A. C. B. and Talitha were living in Limestone County, Texas in 1874 when their youngest son, Joseph Lee, was born on May 27. A. C. B. died in August, 1888, and Talitha died on December 26, 1909. Both are buried in the Masters Cemetery in Limestone County. Their graves are not marked.
