The Genealogy Department of the Groesbeck Maffett Public Library has a wonderful collection of genealogy and local history resources.  The library has a staff person in the genealogy department to help those needing assistance.

The Texas Collection is Baylor University's oldest special collections library and serves as the University Archive that collects, preserves, and provides access to materials on the history, heritage and culture of Texas.



Texas Historical Commission

The Texas Historical Commission is the state agency responsible for historic preservation.  It offers a wide range of programs that help preserve the past for future generations of Texans, stimulate economic development across the state, and educate students and professionals alike about historic preservation.



Texas Historic Sites Atlas

The Atlas features nearly 300,000 site records, including markers, historic places, courthouses, cemeteries, museums, and sawmills across the state.

Historic Bridge Foundation

The Historic Bridge Foundation is a national advocacy organization for the preservation of historic bridges in the United States.  It offers support to all persons interested in bridge preservation through: 1) service as a clearinghouse for information on the preservation of historic bridges via a website and newsletter,  2) identification of and communication with individuals and groups interested in the preservation of historic bridges,  3) consultation with public officials to devise reasonable alternatives to demolishing or adversely affecting historic bridges, and 4) development of educational programs to promote awareness of historic bridges.



Preservation Texas

Preservation Texas is the only private, nonprofit membership organization in Texas that is dedicated to being a full-service statewide preservation organization.



The Handbook of Texas Online

The Handbook of Texas Online is a project of the Texas State Historical Association.  It offers a full-text searchable version of the complete text of the six-volume print edition, all corrections incorporated in the second printing, and approximately 400 articles not included in the print edition due to space limitations.

The Historical Marker Database

This website is an illustrated searchable online catalog of historical information viewed through the filter of roadside and other permanent outdoor markers, monuments, and plaques. It contains photographs, inscription transcriptions, marker locations, maps, additional information and commentary, and links to more information. Anyone can add new markers to the database and update existing marker pages with new photographs, links, information and commentary.
